Job Summary

The Student Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for performing daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment, including grounds maintenance, weed gardens, cleaning eaves troughs, windows, and exterior building surfaces. The successful candidate will also be responsible for painting and general housekeeping, as well as facility and equipment maintenance duties as required and directed by the Maintenance and Facilities Manager or their representative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment
  • Conduct grounds maintenance, including weed gardens and exterior building cleaning
  • Clean eaves troughs, windows, and exterior building surfaces
  • Perform painting and general housekeeping duties
  • Assist with facility and equipment maintenance duties as required

Requirements

  • Must be a registered full-time post-secondary student during the preceding academic year and returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • Enrolled in building operations or architectural technology/technician, carpentry and renovation techniques, or project management school program an asset
  • Proven knowledge in building maintenance and repair
  • Flexible with willingness to learn new tasks, multi-task, and adapt to quickly changing priorities
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must have a Valid Class G License and will be required to complete a brief road test in the service vehicle utilized
  • Must have completed a criminal reference check from within the last 6 months
