Position Title: Director of Services

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Director of Services plays a crucial role in advancing the Strategic Plan of the Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay. This position is dedicated to enhancing the safety, welfare, and advocacy for children, youth, and families, ensuring that all services are provided through a lens of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). The incumbent will strengthen collaborative initiatives with community partners, focusing on innovative, effective, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive service models. Furthermore, this role will support the organization's dedication to reconciliation and quality assurance, driving excellence in service delivery to meet the diverse needs of the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion the rights of children and youth, ensuring their perspectives are acknowledged and their needs are prioritized.
  • Implement an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion framework across all services and programs.
  • Develop and refine protocols and service agreements to guarantee exceptional service delivery.
  • Establish and nurture meaningful partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and service providers.
  • Incorporate social justice principles into every aspect of service provision.
  • Craft and submit funding proposals to secure necessary resources for programs and services.
  • Maintain high standards of service delivery through ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assess and monitor program effectiveness and adherence to established standards.
  • Formulate and revise policies to direct service delivery and organizational practices.
  • Design and conduct training programs for staff and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Social Justice, or a related discipline. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • 5-7 years of experience in child welfare, advocacy, or a related sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing protocols, service agreements, and funding proposals.
  • Proven ability to work from a trauma-informed and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion perspective.
  • Strong advocacy and reconciliation capabilities.
  • Experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Exceptional skills in partnership development and system navigation.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
  • Experience in policy formulation and quality assurance.
  • Strong clinical judgment and therapeutic background.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to pass necessary background checks and meet any other regulatory requirements.
