Job Summary

The Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to fill the role of Director of Services. This position plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of the organization's Strategic Plan, promoting the safety, well-being, and advocacy of children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Advocacy and Support: Advocate for the rights of children and youth, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  2. Equity and Inclusion: Apply an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion lens to all services and programs, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  3. Service Development: Create and update protocols and service agreements to ensure high-quality service delivery, meeting the diverse needs of children, youth, and families.
  4. Partnerships and Collaboration: Build and maintain effective and meaningful partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and service providers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  5. Social Justice: Integrate social justice principles into all aspects of service delivery, promoting a culture of social responsibility and accountability.
  6. Funding and Resource Development: Develop and write funding proposals to secure resources for programs and services, ensuring the organization's financial sustainability.
  7. Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes, monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and compliance with standards.
  8. Policy Development: Develop and update policies to guide service delivery and organizational practices, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values.
  9. Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to staff and stakeholders, enhancing their skills and knowledge in areas such as trauma-informed care and cultural responsiveness.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Social Justice or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in child welfare, advocacy, or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
  3. Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work from a trauma-informed and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion lens, with strong advocacy and reconciliation skills, excellent partnership development and system navigation skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  4. Qualifications: Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, ability to pass a Police Vulnerable Sector Check, driving abstract and child welfare record check, and meet any other regulatory requirements.
