Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Urban Planner to join our team at IBI Group. As a key member of our Global Architecture & Urbanism Division, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our cities.

About the Role

As an Urban Planner, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of planning assignments, including land development, community planning, urban design, land use studies, and public engagement. You will conduct due diligence research, field work, analysis, and report writing, as well as develop, review, and manage the approval process for land use planning applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake planning assignments, including land development, community planning, and urban design
  • Conduct research, field work, analysis, and report writing
  • Develop, review, and manage the approval process for land use planning applications
  • Assist in business development and prepare proposals and contracts for clients
  • Contribute to all aspects of land use planning projects, with a focus on land development, subdivision planning, site design, and urban design
  • Prepare municipal planning documents and policies
  • Manage and support multiple planning projects
  • Support public engagement processes
  • Analyze development situations from competing points of view
  • Network and build relationships with clients and other strategic contacts

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3-10 years of experience in planning, urban design, or applied professions
  • Eligible for Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation
  • An accredited degree in Urban Planning; a master's degree is an asset
  • IAP2 certification is an asset
  • Familiarity with provincial planning legislation and the development approval process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
