Job Summary

The Project Lead, Long Range Planning and Special Projects will play a key role in the development and implementation of strategic plans and policies for Norfolk County. This position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering studies and projects related to complex planning issues, including policy development and project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and plans that align with the County's strategic directions and provincial planning legislation and policies.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage projects related to long-range planning, including the preparation of plans for specific communities and the coordination of stakeholder engagement.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development and project management, including the interpretation of provincial and local policies and the County's zoning by-laws.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, including community members, business leaders, and other external partners, to build support for policy development and project management.
  • Communication: Develop and deliver presentations and reports to Council, Committee, and other stakeholders, including the preparation of policy-planning reports and recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments and agencies to achieve the County's strategic objectives, including the development of partnerships and collaborations to support policy development and project management.
  • Expertise: Provide expert planning testimony before administrative tribunals and assist in the preparation of legal proceedings.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Land Use Planning or an Honours Degree in a Planning-related program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional planning experience, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment, including experience in policy development and project management.
  • Certifications: Registered Professional Planner, including Full membership in the OPPI and the CIP.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and project management skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
