Policy and Legislative Review Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy and Legislative Review Manager to join our team at The Regional Municipality of York. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and developing coherent and coordinated policy and legislative review that supports Departmental and Corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic policy supports and advice to the Department on the future, scope, trends, and implications of policy direction.
- Lead the development and coordination of policies, policy updates, and policy options, priorities, and multi-year strategic plan updates for the Department.
- Manage and coordinate research and analysis to assess impacts of policy initiatives and on the development and implementation of strategies, plans, guidelines, and procedures.
- Interpret and translate proposed federal and provincial legislation and regulations into policy and program options for the Department.
- Liaise with MECP and other provincial ministries on important policy and research issues.
- Supervise staff, including recruitment, selection, hiring, scheduling, assigning, and monitoring work.
- Support and advance Public Works' cultural transformation as a leading digital utility.
- University Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning, Public Administration, Computer Science, Political Science, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in project management and development of Key Performance Indicators.
- Experience and understanding of policy and research development in terms of practices, information, data, business processes, information systems, and organization within a public works environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of planning, business objective setting, levels of service targets, project management, performance monitoring, etc. in a municipal and/or provincial context.
