Join Our Team as a Development Review Engineering Assistant or Technologist

At Burnside & Associates Limited, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Development Review Engineering Assistant or Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our Municipal Review team, you will play a crucial role in assisting municipal clients in all stages of development review, including reviewing development applications and detailed designs, and monitoring construction.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented individual with a degree in Civil Engineering or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, and 2-5 years of experience in land development design and construction. You will be responsible for reviewing engineering designs for compliance with municipal design standards, guidelines, and civil engineering standards, and acting as a liaison between municipal clients and developers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager, Engineer, and Technologists to review proposed development applications and designs on behalf of municipal clients.
  • Review engineering designs for compliance with municipal design standards, guidelines, and civil engineering standards.
  • Act as a liaison between municipal clients and developers.
  • Occasional participation in field reviews and construction inspection in support of regular inspection team members.
  • Facilitate plan review meetings with developers, design engineers, municipal engineers, and staff to discuss reviews, design standard requirements, and other applicable standards.
  • Prepare Agreements for Subdivision, Site Plan, Pre-servicing, and Site Alteration.
  • Review and respond to concerns from the general public regarding development issues.
  • Prepare and present reports to municipal staff.
  • Perform edits and updates on CAD drawings and in GIS.
  • Other duties as assigned.
