Job Title: Shop Manager III

First Student Shared Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Manager III to join our team. As a Shop Manager III, you will be responsible for managing all location maintenance operations and providing shop staff oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and administer fleet maintenance, assist in troubleshooting problems with equipment.
  • Communicate availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
  • Directly supervise shop staff, including hiring, firing, approving salary increases or decreases, training and employee development, planning and directing the work, disciplining, handling employee complaints or grievances, and handling performance reviews.
  • Work closely with the location manager and region maintenance management providing status of maintenance and budget requirements.
  • Ensure compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements.
  • Review repair orders, order fuel for vehicles, order parts, and subcontract repair work.
  • Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduces operating costs.
  • Ensure that maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures, are properly equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
  • Supervise bus fueling, arrange services for building and ground keeping, and complete special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical training preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills, industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment is preferred.
