As an Education Assistant On-Call, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in our inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the planning and implementation of Individual Education Plan goals, objectives, and supports.
  • Supervising students within the school, on the playground, and on field trips, including transitioning between activities.
  • Assisting students during classroom activities and supporting social inclusion through self-regulation strategies, behavior support strategies, and communication strategies.
  • Objectively observing and recording student behavior, as required.
  • Reporting safety concerns, unusual behavior, and discipline concerns to the principal or designate.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Education Assistant Certification or equivalent experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Minimum three months of experience working with children.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development.
  • Familiarity with Individual Education Plans and Individual Care Plans, an asset.
