Job Summary:

Catholic Independent Schools Of The Diocese Of Victoria is seeking a qualified Educational Assistants On-Call to support our schools in Port Alberni, Duncan, and Victoria. As an on-call Educational Assistant, you will provide support to students with diverse needs, working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, implementing strategies and techniques to promote learning and independence.
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, implementation, and assessment, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education.
  • Collaborate with other support staff, teachers, and school administrators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care.

Requirements:

  • Certified Educational Assistant (CEA) certificate or equivalent (e.g., Human Resource Worker, Teacher)
  • Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with diverse needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and other developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of ABA principles and practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time, on-call position, requiring flexibility and availability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check and provide proof of certification and training.
