Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing information and training to employers, employees, and the general public on environmental health and safety matters. This includes conducting surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment, collecting samples of materials for analysis, and inspecting workplaces for safety or health hazards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide information and training to employers, employees, and the general public on environmental health and safety matters.
  • Conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment.
  • Collect samples of materials for analysis.
  • Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses.
  • Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment.
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans.

  • Advise senior management.
  • Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response planning.
  • Implement and co-ordinate mine safety programs.
  • Conduct training sessions.
  • Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure that regulations governing health, quality, and safety are followed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience or equivalent experience.
  • MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word skills.
  • Regulation or legislation policy interpretation and implementation skills.
  • Pollution monitoring programs, hazardous products handling and storage, and workplace inspection skills.
  • Environmental and occupational health experience.
  • Specialized environmental skills and knowledge.
  • Criminal record check.
  • Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, large workload, sitting, combination of sitting, standing, walking, and standing for extended periods.
