Position Overview

As a Patient Care Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents at POINTS WEST LIVING STETLER INC. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring comfort and well-being.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 months to less than 1 year in a related field.
Work Environment
  • Located in a rural setting.
  • Work primarily in a nursing home or assisted living facility.
Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany residents during outdoor recreational activities.
  • Assist with various aspects of patient care and comfort.
  • Provide personal care assistance.
  • Manage bedpan supply and disposal.
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • Serve meals and assist residents with feeding.
  • Support residents with mobility, including lifting, turning, and positioning.
  • Facilitate communication between departments by delivering messages and specimens.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms.
  • Oversee and encourage residents' exercise routines.
  • Administer specific medical procedures as required.
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and grooming tasks.
  • Respond to resident call signals to assess needs.
  • Collect necessary specimens for medical testing.
Certifications
  • Nursing Aide Certificate.
  • Health Care Aide Certificate.
Work Conditions
  • Fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
