Position Overview
The Manager of Clinical Resource Team and Externs plays a pivotal role in the operational management of staffing resources across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the Program Director, this position is responsible for the strategic development, execution, and ongoing improvement of staffing solutions for MHelps. The Manager will oversee the clinical resource team and externs, focusing on recruitment, performance oversight, and daily operational management.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient flow across all Mackenzie Health facilities, ensuring efficient transitions and support.
- Lead the recruitment and performance evaluation processes for the Clinical Resource Team and Extern Mentor Coordinators.
- Manage staff scheduling and daily assignments while assessing educational needs to maintain staff competency.
- Evaluate ongoing staffing requirements based on workload and staff capabilities, making necessary adjustments.
- Monitor quality, safety, and performance indicators, responding promptly to any concerns.
- Provide leadership and support to teams, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Communicate ongoing learning needs to Clinical Educators and track new hire progress.
- Collaborate with Professional Practice to review scope of practice and identify learning opportunities.
- Offer continuous feedback and coaching to enhance staff performance.
- Build and maintain effective inter-professional relationships across all levels.
- Identify challenges and trends, implementing targeted interventions as needed.
- Create a supportive environment that promotes professional practice and teamwork.
- Assist in staffing for MHelps programs to meet operational targets.
- Prepare management reports addressing program issues and budget variances.
- Exemplify professional and organizational competencies in all interactions.
- Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills with the inter-professional team.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address clinical and staffing challenges with the Program Director's support.
- Exhibit critical thinking and conflict resolution abilities in various situations.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures regarding performance management and human resources.
- Understand and comply with health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for patients.
- Effectively manage conflict while maintaining productive relationships.
- Demonstrate leadership in evidence-based healthcare initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Interpret data to inform health program development and improvements.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills to report on complex information efficiently.

- Engage collaboratively with Program Leaders to achieve performance targets and improve patient care outcomes.

Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Registered Nurse Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- A minimum of 5 years of recent acute clinical experience.
- 3-5 years of leadership or management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field, completed or in progress.
Note: This position may require flexibility to work at various Mackenzie Health locations.
