Projects powered by Unreal have been at the forefront of real-time entertainment for over two decades. Our team of programming specialists is perpetually innovating to enhance the tools and technologies that empower content creators globally.
Your Responsibilities
The Fortnite Creative Team is equipping developers and creators with the full suite of Unreal Engine and the Unreal Editor to design and publish experiences within Fortnite. As a member of the Verse Framework Team, you will have the chance to develop gameplay systems, create APIs for the Verse programming language, and contribute to building a comprehensive gameplay framework that harnesses the power of Unreal Engine for Fortnite creators, utilizing UEFN to craft the next generation of exceptional gameplay experiences.
In this position, you will
Design gameplay systems and implement robust, stable, and user-friendly APIs for both internal and external game developers Collaborate closely with programmers across various teams to devise solutions that meet their requirements Actively engage with other developers to create Verse APIs that unlock the potential of Unreal Engine in UEFN Investigate new solutions and systems for articulating gameplay concepts in the Verse programming language to help establish the foundation for the Metaverse Ensure technical excellence across multiple platforms and optimize/fix issues in existing gameplay systemsWhat We Seek
Proficient C++ skills with the capability to code and design gameplay mechanics and related tools Experience in creating and maintaining APIs with strong backward compatibility requirements Innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to think beyond conventional solutions Capability to navigate ambiguity and collaborate with team members to define deliverables Familiarity with multiple programming languages and a proven ability to leverage their strengths while mitigating their weaknesses Knowledgeable in game technologies with the ability to discuss trade-offs and details of various gameplay systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience in writing efficient code that operates on diverse hardware platforms, particularly game consolesEPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE

Pay Transparency Information
The anticipated annual base pay range(s) for this role are outlined below. Each base pay range is applicable only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on various factors, including (but not limited to) skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
