A dynamic and expanding global investment firm, engaged in various strategic investment sectors—including Private Capital (Real Assets, Direct Private Equity, Growth Equity, Private Equity Funds & Secondaries), Credit (Structured Finance and Leverage Finance), and Public Equities—is seeking to recruit an Associate for their Infrastructure division. This team focuses on substantial assets that deliver stable long-term returns, robust inflation protection, and low substitution risks. Their investment strategy typically encompasses regulated utilities, transportation, digital infrastructure, waste management, and energy sectors, positioning them to significantly increase their Assets Under Management (AUM) in the coming years.
This Associate will be instrumental in sourcing and managing direct infrastructure investments on a principal basis. The role involves collaborating with the broader team to assess investment prospects, primarily within North America but also considering global opportunities. Responsibilities include conducting research, formulating recommendations, participating in investment execution, and overseeing ongoing investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate Investment Opportunities and Sector Trends:
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of diverse infrastructure investment opportunities.
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on potential investments, assessing historical and projected financial performance, management quality, investment advantages and risks, regulatory frameworks, industry trends, and other pertinent factors.
- Develop sophisticated financial models to appraise opportunities, including testing assumptions and sensitivities, evaluating anticipated returns, and generating valuation insights.
- Engage with company management teams to review performance, strategic direction, and other relevant matters as necessary.
- Assist in presenting investment insights to decision-making committees.
Execute Infrastructure Investments:
- Support the overall execution of infrastructure investments, collaborating with management teams to enhance performance.
- Coordinate with investment partners and advisors (financial, legal, etc.).
Monitor Infrastructure Investments:
- Oversee the ongoing financial and operational performance of infrastructure investments.
- Identify and facilitate the implementation of performance enhancement initiatives at portfolio companies.
- Assist in conducting valuation assessments.
Team Development:
- Participate in and contribute to regular departmental meetings.
- Share expertise by collaborating with team members across different regions.
- Undertake other relevant duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications: 2 to 5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or consulting; experience in infrastructure investments or transactions is advantageous.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient research, financial modeling, analytical, and valuation capabilities.
- Demonstrated professionalism and integrity.
- Strong interpersonal and business relationship skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Adaptability, initiative, and flexibility.
- Sound judgment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure.
- Team-oriented individual who thrives in a high-performance environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
