Overview

Lafarge, a leading construction company, is seeking a skilled Millwright Technician to join our team. As a Millwright Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining, improving, and optimizing the mechanical operations of our Marine Shop in Richmond, BC.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Millwright Technician to perform planned and breakdown maintenance, including service, repair, and installation of equipment such as bilge pumps, motors, gears/drives, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment on the Plant, completing reports to record problems and work performed, and estimating parts and labor costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on equipment such as bilge pumps, motors, gears/drives, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Maintain equipment on the Plant, including service, repair, and installation
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  • Estimate parts and labor costs
  • Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, parts used, and costs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ensure that all work is performed in a safe and efficient fashion, with the safety of the individual, coworkers, customers, and the general public as the primary requirement

Operations:

  • Proactively address breakdown events with a sense of urgency without compromising safety or product quality requirements
  • Actively inspect and monitor all mechanical equipment to ensure the majority of tasks performed are preventative rather than breakdown maintenance
  • Constantly pursue building and maintaining a "best possible" group of facilities

Qualification Profile

Education:

  • Journeyperson status
  • Preference to dual ticketed

Experience and Skill Set:

  • Minimum two years of heavy manufacturing/mining/marine experience
  • A commitment to working safely
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Self-starter: Capacity to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to work in various work environments (hot and cold)
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically a loader would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in welding, fabrication & rigging
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and evenings as required by management
  • Must be able to walk and stand for periods at a time
