Job Overview

The Underwriting Assistant plays a vital role in providing exceptional support to the underwriting department at Wawanesa Insurance. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering top-notch service to our customers while working under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform data entry activities to ensure seamless policy processing.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Distribute work to underwriters efficiently to meet deadlines and ensure timely policy issuance.
  • Follow up on policy transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail to maintain a well-organized workspace.
  • Perform daily filing activities to maintain accurate records.
  • Provide relief at the switchboard and reception to ensure seamless communication.
  • Ensure all resource materials, including training materials, are up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is highly valued.
  • Willingness to pursue industry designations or certifications is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
