Role Summary
What is the opportunity?
As the Head of Commercial Finance Operations, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team of credit specialists focused on our substantial commercial client segment within Financial Services, which includes businesses with annual revenues ranging from $25 million to $100 million. Your leadership will be crucial in achieving our strategic growth targets through the effective structuring, execution, and oversight of credit for a diverse portfolio of significant commercial clients. You will oversee the comprehensive credit relationship for a designated group of clients, emphasizing loan origination and the ongoing quality management of the portfolio. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the client experience by delivering exceptional business, financial, and credit insights directly to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with client relationship managers to structure, finalize, and monitor loan transactions, including credit submissions to the risk management team and presentations to clients.
- Partner with client relationship managers in crafting and delivering credit proposals that effectively communicate the benefits and advantages of tailored credit solutions to both existing and prospective clients.
- Showcase the organization's ability to provide innovative and customized credit solutions promptly, ensuring that client needs are met or exceeded.
- Oversee all facets of the credit approval process, fostering strong relationships with risk management personnel and national office staff.
- Proactively develop and enhance client relationships while engaging with key partners across various departments, including risk management, corporate banking, and specialized financial solutions.
- Conduct thorough due diligence in recommending credit applications, collaborating closely with risk management to align with established risk processes and guidelines.
- Maintain vigilant oversight of portfolio quality through proactive management practices, including annual credit reviews and monitoring of covenants.
Qualifications for Success
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated success in financial and credit analysis that supports outstanding client relationship management.
- A minimum of three years of experience in commercial lending within a major financial institution.
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance, complemented by strong quantitative, financial modeling, and analytical capabilities, along with proficiency in analyzing financial statements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with emerging technologies and communication tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail in both documentation and financial analysis.
- Strong organizational abilities, capable of thriving under pressure while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required to effectively serve clients with diverse language needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees such as an MBA, CPA, or CFA.
- Experience in corporate lending or corporate finance.
- Training in credit and accounting with the ability to navigate complex financial concepts.
