Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice-President of Finance, the Vice-President of Finance will oversee the corporate accounting operations for Brookfield Asset Management and its affiliated companies.

Key Responsibilities:

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Corporate Accounting

  • Directing and coordinating all accounting operational activities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Managing intricate accounting transactions and documenting the corresponding accounting treatments.
  • Facilitating intercompany reconciliations across all business units.
  • Overseeing the budgeting process.
  • Addressing daily inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders regarding corporate accounting records.

Financial Reporting

  • Preparing consolidated corporate segment results, including accompanying notes, for the global consolidation team.
  • Generating analyses and schedules for management reporting purposes.
  • Drafting press releases, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), interim reports, and annual reports for certain affiliated publicly listed entities.
  • Coordinating requests from internal and external auditors.

Leadership Development

  • Providing mentorship and support to the corporate accounting team.
  • Training and organizing staff to ensure the corporate accounting functions are completed accurately and promptly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Evaluating current accounting operations and proposing opportunities for enhancement.
  • Assisting with system implementations.
  • Engaging in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

This position presents excellent opportunities within a dynamic environment. To be considered, candidates should possess:

  • A CPA designation, with a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, including at least 3-5 years in a leadership capacity within a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience in preparing and auditing consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS / US GAAP.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
