About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at BC Cancer. As an Oncology Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing holistic nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Direct Patient Care: Assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans for patients with cancer, including symptom management, treatment coordination, and education.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Administer Medications and Treatments: Safely administer medications, injections, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Document Patient Information: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, including medical history, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Admit, Transfer, and Discharge Patients: Ensure smooth transitions for patients throughout their cancer care journey.
  • Provide Education and Support: Educate patients and families about cancer treatment options, side effects, and self-care strategies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Clinical Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated expertise in oncology nursing, including knowledge of cancer treatment modalities, symptom management, and patient education.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
