About This Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Naval Business Development Leader to drive significant growth within our Canadian Defence & Security market. This role will be instrumental in shaping CAE's strategic direction and success in the Naval domain.

Your Responsibilities
  • Spearhead the achievement of substantial order intake for our Naval Training and Mission & Operational Support (M&OS) account, consistently exceeding $50 million annually.
  • Identify lucrative market opportunities, cultivate new clients and partners, nurture existing relationships, lead capture efforts, and provide strategic guidance throughout the contracting process.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop innovative solutions tailored to the Canadian defence & security landscape, with a specific focus on Naval applications.
  • Work closely with our global offsets organization to devise effective offset strategies that align with market demands.
  • Lead complex pursuit and capture teams, fostering a collaborative environment where win themes and strategies are developed collectively.
  • Take ownership of the capture strategy development process, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Manage budgets and expenses associated with approved pursuits, demonstrating sound financial stewardship.
  • Provide valuable insights into key opportunities to executive management, operations, and engineering teams, leveraging your subject matter expertise to contribute to CAE's collective success.
  • Guide bid and proposal teams in preparing and submitting compelling proposals for Naval and other assigned opportunities.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of competitive market offerings and emerging technologies within the defence & security sector.
Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an accomplished professional with a proven track record in the Canadian Defence & Security industry.

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. An MBA is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Naval operations and/or maritime technology, either through service in the Canadian Navy or an allied country's navy, or through extensive industry experience.
  • Has 12+ years of experience within the Canadian Defence & Security industry.
  • Brings 6+ years of experience in Canadian Defence procurement processes.
  • Exhibits exceptional business acumen and a strategic mindset.
  • Has a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and business partners.
  • Possesses advanced sales, market research, and business skills and knowledge.
  • Communicates clearly and persuasively both in writing and verbally.
  • Has proven networking skills and a well-established network of contacts within the Canadian defence industry, including the Department of National Defence (DND), Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), Innovation Science and Economic Development (ISED), or equivalent Public Safety & Security environments.
  • Demonstrates cross-functional, international, and team leadership capabilities.
