Job Title: Environmental Monitor - Traditional Land Use Specialist

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Monitor - Traditional Land Use Specialist to join our team at Lower Nicola Indian Band. As an Environmental Monitor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection of traditional land use areas and cultural heritage resources along the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Environmental Inspection team to provide traditional knowledge and assist in the identification of environmental resources and archaeological sensitivities.
  • Monitor and report on the potential protection requirements set out in the Project documents and commitments concerning traditional land use areas.
  • Support the implementation of mitigation measures to minimize traditional land use and cultural heritage impacts.
  • Provide feedback to the Lead Environmental Inspector on the effectiveness of mitigation measures.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings to discuss issues related to traditional land use and cultural heritage resources.
  • Participate in environmental sampling and other environmental inspection duties, as directed.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports and other records related to Project activities.
  • Follow pre-established protocols for feeding back information to Indigenous groups.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Smart cellular phone.
  • iPad and specified Applications.
  • Flexibility in terms of work schedule to accommodate construction schedule.
  • Be equipped for working in all types of weather conditions.
  • Completion of all required training, including Trans Mountain Expansion Project Specific Training, General Construction Contractor (GCC) training, and compliance management system training.
  • Compliance with Trans Mountain and GCCs Project Health and Safety Plans, including those associated with COVID-19.
  • Arrive on site with all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Completed pre-access screening prior to arrival at the worksite.
  • Follow Trans Mountain policies.

Education and Certifications:

  • H2S Alive or H2S Awareness certification.
  • UTV certification.
  • Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST) certification.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing certification.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to project sites. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
