About the Opportunity
The Squamish Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director to lead the development, planning, and execution of updating the Xay Temixw Land Use Plan and creating the Nation's first Xay Shkwen Marine Use Plan. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic community organization and contribute to the Nation's vision for sustainable economic development and cultural preservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Xay Temixw Land Use Plan and Xay Shkwen Marine Use Plan, ensuring alignment with Squamish Nation's strategic objectives and community engagement principles.
- Lead project management teams to deliver high-quality plans and reports, working closely with internal staff and external consultants.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and industry partners.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance on land use and marine planning, indigenous rights and title, and project management best practices.
- Collaborate with the Rights and Title Department to ensure effective communication and coordination on land use and marine planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, land use planning, and/or marine planning, with a strong understanding of indigenous rights and title.
- Proven track record of leading complex projects and teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using project management and planning software, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
