About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Primary Casualty team at AIG. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating and managing risk for our commercial casualty portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite customer exposure in the General Casualty segment of the commercial casualty portfolio.
  • Communicate risk appetite and casualty value proposition to brokers and clients.
  • Collaborate with distribution and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Rapidly evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten.
  • Work with brokers to understand deal structures, terms, and AIG Services that best meet clients' needs.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers and clients.
  • Participate in special underwriting projects as needed.
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business.
  • Work with your manager to develop an individual business plan that aligns with product strategies.
  • Responsible for maintaining risk selection in adherence with product guidelines and for achieving rate, renewal retention, and new business goals.
  • Ensure all files are well-documented and comply with departmental requirements.
  • Recognize and create cross-selling opportunities for other AIG General Insurance products.
  • Provide mentoring and training to less-experienced underwriters.
  • Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4+ years of Commercial Casualty experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university, preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of lines of business in a specific Casualty line of business, including product features, forms, regulatory environments, and risks.
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship-building experience.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.
  • Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfort with analytical tools and technology.
  • A desire to stay up-to-date with industry, legal, and regulatory trends.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $81,600 - $102,000 and a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
