Role Contribution: The focus of AXIS Canada is to enhance our brand and product offerings as a premier specialist insurer within the country.
As a vital member of the Canadian Casualty team, you will play a crucial role in the ongoing success and growth of AXIS Canada. You will have the opportunity to underwrite significant and dynamic accounts across Canada, engaging with various customer segments such as Manufacturing, Realty, Construction, and Energy.
Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other product lines to promote the AXIS Canada brand to our Insureds and Broker Partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite a portfolio of Casualty risks; assess acceptability and provide recommendations.
- Price a profitable portfolio of Casualty risks based on underwriting, financial, and competitive analysis in accordance with company guidelines.
- Support business strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives through sound underwriting practices and responsible marketing.
- Contribute to strategic business plans aimed at enhancing market presence, retaining a balanced mix of business, and achieving overall growth and profitability goals.
- Implement marketing strategies that align with local market conditions while meeting growth and profit targets.
- As required, develop specialized policy and endorsement language.
- Build and maintain broker relationships to ensure positive outcomes.
- Occasional travel to key markets across Canada is anticipated.
- Be prepared to undertake additional duties and responsibilities relevant to this role.
Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- CIP/FCIP, CRM preferred or in progress.
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in primary and excess casualty.
- Strong sales and marketing capabilities.
- Established broker relationships across Canada are highly desirable.
- Technical underwriting skills with comprehensive knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
- In-depth understanding of Casualty lines of business and legal and regulatory guidelines in Canada.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Able to effectively engage with all levels of internal and external business partners.
- Advanced analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, with strong prioritization skills.
- Robust broker relationships.
- Strong influencing and negotiation capabilities.
- Passionate and energetic about the P&C insurance industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Role Factors:
In this position, you will typically be required to:
- Travel quarterly.
- Be present in the office three days per week.
