Role Contribution:
The focus of AXIS Canada is to enhance our brand and product offerings as a leading specialist insurer in the region. As a vital member of the Canadian Casualty team, you will play a crucial role in the ongoing success and growth of AXIS Canada. You will have the opportunity to underwrite significant and dynamic accounts across various customer segments, including Manufacturing, Realty, Construction, and Energy.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Underwrite a portfolio of Casualty risks, assessing acceptability and providing recommendations.
- Price a profitable portfolio of Casualty risks based on thorough underwriting, financial, and competitive analysis, adhering to company guidelines.
- Support business strategies aimed at achieving profit and growth objectives through sound underwriting practices and responsible marketing.
- Contribute to strategic business plans designed to enhance market presence, maintain an appropriate mix of business, and meet overall growth and profit targets.
- Implement marketing strategies that align with local market conditions while achieving growth and profit goals.
- Develop specialized policy and endorsement language as needed.
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships to facilitate positive outcomes.
- Occasionally travel to key markets across Canada.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required by the nature of the role.
Candidate Profile:
We value your unique experience and expertise. While there are specific qualifications we seek, we are open to discussing how your individual knowledge can contribute to our objectives.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- CIP/FCIP, CRM preferred or in progress.
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in primary and excess casualty.
- Strong sales and marketing capabilities.
- Established broker relationships across Canada are highly desirable.
- Technical underwriting skills with comprehensive knowledge of insurance principles and practices.
- In-depth understanding of Casualty lines of business and legal/regulatory guidelines in Canada.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Able to effectively engage with all levels of internal and external business partners.
- Advanced analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, with strong prioritization skills.
- Strong broker relationships.
- Influential negotiation skills.
- Passionate about the Property & Casualty insurance sector.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Role Requirements:
In this position, you will typically be expected to:
- Travel quarterly
- Work in the office three days per week
