Old Toronto, Ontario, Canada Amazon Full time
About the Role

Amazon's Sponsored Products advertising business is one of the fastest growing areas in the company. Have you ever wondered what happens behind that "Sponsored" label you see in search results on Amazon? Hint: it involves a lot of interesting tech delivered by a great team.

The Sponsored Products Bidding team is accountable for the real-time bidding system for Sponsored Products. We model multiple scenarios based on the opportunity of an ad to receive a click and dynamically adjust the bids at the request level. Bidding service requires operating with low latency, while running multiple machine learning models in real time.

This role is unique in that we are looking for a data-oriented SDE - someone who can contribute to our data modeling and data architecture, optimize our offline data processing and simulation infrastructure handling Dynamic Bidding scale data, and help define our business metrics to inform long-term product strategy.

This role needs to continue raising the bar in operational excellence, including pro-actively identifying and delivering improvements and dealing with live site issues effectively with clarity in communication.

The business and technical challenges are significant. Fortunately, we have a broad mandate to experiment and innovate, and a seemingly endless range of new opportunities to build a big, sustainable business that helps Amazon continuously delight our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop data models and architectures to support real-time bidding and data processing
  2. Optimize offline data processing and simulation infrastructure to handle large-scale data
  3. Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and engineers to define business metrics and inform product strategy
  4. Continuously identify and deliver improvements to operational excellence
Requirements
  1. 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  2. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language
