We are seeking an HVDC Operations Technology Engineer to become an integral part of our HVDC team in Montreal. In this role, you will collaborate with a group of skilled engineers focusing on IT/OT Systems, under the guidance of the HVDC Engineering Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to establish the requirements and architecture for automation equipment utilized in our HVDC converter stations, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and relevant standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage primarily with SCADA systems, HMI, and network infrastructure as an Operations Technology Engineer.
- Take charge of the OT System design within our control and protection systems as part of the HVDC team.
- Lead the implementation of systems and networks in HVDC projects.
- Develop comprehensive infrastructure for networks and systems to facilitate operational efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to best practices, customer requirements, and applicable standards in systems and networks.
- Participate in security assessments, providing expert insights.
- Actively seek and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate with both internal and external customers to guarantee our solutions meet their expectations and standards.
- Network with engineering peers, sharing best practices across various projects and disciplines.
- Travel internationally to contribute to the development of our power stations globally.
- Uphold Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking accountability for your actions while supporting your colleagues and the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with Gateway Server, SCADA, and HMI systems (experience with MicroScada and Intouch is advantageous).
- Proficiency in Database Management/SQL.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and workstations.
- Familiarity with Cyber Security principles.
- Experience with backup/image management on servers and workstations, as well as patch management.
- Exposure to AC Control & Protection schemes or automation systems.
- Basic understanding of international electrical standards (IEEE/IEC).
- Knowledge of C/C++ programming is a plus.
- Experience in HVDC projects is beneficial, along with other operational technology experience from AC systems or automation.
- Previous experience in a related field is essential. Flexibility and an open mindset are crucial for success in this position. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required for effective communication with various stakeholders. French language skills are an asset.
