Position: Licensed Practical Nurse

BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services is on the lookout for a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to become a vital part of our Correctional Health Services (CHS) team. Our CHS unit is committed to delivering specialized healthcare to individuals in provincial correctional facilities, emphasizing compassionate and unbiased treatment options.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with clients, assess their individual needs, and provide essential emotional support.
  • Participate in the creation and adjustment of personalized care plans.
  • Execute nursing procedures and relay pertinent patient information to the healthcare team.
  • Monitor client progress and assess the effectiveness of nursing interventions.
  • Ensure the maintenance of precise health records.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of a recognized Practical Nurses program with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Possession of a current full practicing license from the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Certification in Occupational First Aid Level 2.
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Organizational skills and adherence to instructions.
  • Operational proficiency in nursing practices.
  • Knowledge of CPR techniques.
  • Understanding of Indigenous cultural safety and related matters.
