Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operating Room Assistant to join our team at Fraser Health. As an Operating Room Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Distribute and maintain surgical supplies and equipment in the operating room.
  • Disassemble and reassemble anaesthetic and related equipment as required.
  • Transport anaesthetic and surgical instruments and equipment to designated areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of sterilizers, sterile core, and instrument room.
  • Restock supplies and set up anaesthetic carts according to established procedures.
  • Participate in the Departmental Quality Assurance Program by performing routine maintenance of departmental equipment.
  • Transport specimens to the laboratory and pick up blood/blood products as assigned.
  • Assist with room set-up for cases by moving out dirty tables and equipment and moving in clean tables and equipment.
  • Perform clerical duties such as recording workload statistics, answering the telephone, and maintaining records/files.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 and successful completion of Sterile Supply Processing course.
  • One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
