Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Support Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Rooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Distribute and maintain surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment in the Operating Room.
  • Disassemble and reassemble anaesthetic and related equipment, and transport them to the assigned area.
  • Pick and prepare surgical supplies and instruments for surgical cases, and reassemble instrument trays.
  • Fill urgent requests from the Operating Room for additional items required during surgical procedures.
  • Transport contaminated equipment and instruments to and from the Operating Room.
  • Maintain cleanliness of sterilizers, sterile core, and instrument room.
  • Work closely with Medical Device Reprocessing to ensure clear communication channels.
  • Issue and deliver supplies as requested, and maintain departmental stock of supplies.
  • Participate in the Departmental Quality Assurance Program by cleaning, checking, and testing sterilizers and other related equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Supply Processing course, plus one year's recent, related experience.
  • Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
