About the BC Liquor Distribution Branch

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is a key player in the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in British Columbia. As a branch of government, the LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to making life better for people in B.C. by improving services and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like healthcare, education, and community programming.

Corporate Operations

Corporate Operations at the LDB includes our Corporate Loss Prevention and Real Estate departments. Real Estate manages all activities related to the leasing, construction, renovation, and facilities management of all new and existing LDB facilities, including head office, distribution centers, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Corporate Loss Prevention department ensures the security of all LDB assets through physical security management as well as an investigative team.

About this Role

The Business Continuity Advisor reports to the Director, Construction & Facilities and represents the most senior level of knowledge in the field of business continuity planning for the LDB with mission-critical services and accountabilities under Schedule 2 of the Emergency Program Management Regulations, as well as many business lines and geographic locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote, plan, develop, implement, test, and monitor LDB-wide business continuity plans to ensure business priority and mission-critical LDB services and processes continue to function or are returned to service as quickly as possible in the event of a business interruption.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks to business continuity.
  • Develop and maintain business continuity plans, procedures, and training programs.
  • Conduct regular business continuity exercises and drills to ensure preparedness.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a degree, diploma, or certificate in Emergency Management, Risk Management, or a related field, and 2 years of recent, related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last 8 years and must include experience with facilitating groups to consensus, developing and delivering adult training, designing and delivering emergency management exercises, and experience in business continuity planning.
