Journeyman Machinist/Millwright

Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Machinist/Millwright to join our Plant Maintenance team at Vancouver General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled work at the journeyman level in the installation, movement, maintenance, fabrication/construction, and repair of hospital equipment using tools and equipment such as lathes, drill presses, cutters, electric arc and gas welders, grinders, drills, rigging, and a variety of hand tools.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure the efficient operation of hospital equipment and facilities.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and hospital staff to resolve equipment-related issues and ensure minimal disruption to patient care.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure equipment is properly maintained and repaired in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Machinist or Millwright recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
