Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement OH&S policies, programs, and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate hazards and prevent workplace injuries and exposures.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to management and staff on health and safety matters, including interpretation and administration of the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
  • Liaise with WorkSafeBC officers during inspections, investigate incidents, and provide advice to management on compliance with regulations and legislation.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety Team to develop and implement health and safety training programs for staff.
  • Represent Fraser Health on various internal and external committees, including Site Leadership and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized program, plus five years of recent related experience in a unionized environment and registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
  • Excellent knowledge of workplace health and safety principles, practices, and relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with management, staff, and external stakeholders.
