About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Program Worker to join our team at the Men's Centre. As a Program Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the centre and providing exceptional service to our clients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sort, size, and rack donated clothing, household items, food, and other goods to make them readily available for display in the Market Place.
  • Supervise and motivate students, volunteers, and special needs groups assigned to the Venture Centre Program.
  • Ensure that donors and all donations are received in a gracious, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate the Mission, Vision, and Values of Good Shepherd Centres in your work.
  • Participate in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff, and others, as well as to the property of Good Shepherd.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality, and dignity, with sensitivity to the issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions, and developmental disabilities.
  • Passion for serving people.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide service in a dignified and respectful manner that reflects the charism of Good Shepherd Centres and integrates anti-oppression/anti-racism frameworks.
  • Certification in CPR or willingness to be certified.
  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) required.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.
