About the Role

BDO is seeking a highly skilled Mergers and Acquisitions Associate to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our M&A and Capital Markets practice, you will play a critical role in advising clients on complex transactions and capital raising assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a range of advisory capital raising assignments, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day execution and delivery of service on projects.
  • Underwrite, structure, and document credit requests, analyzing complex customer financial, organizational, and credit information.
  • Conduct market and industry research, detailed financial analysis, and business valuations to identify relevant business, market, and other commercial risks.
  • Make recommendations to approve or decline transactions based on credit quality, business risk, and market needs.
  • Support senior colleagues in debt advisory transaction-related activities, including handling internal transaction/client take-on process, reviewing and analyzing new transaction material, and preparing financing models.
  • Operate in a regulated environment, adhering to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure quality of client deliverables by maintaining a strong attention to detail.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or related field.
  • CA or CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience at a bank, credit fund, or reputable advisory firm with demonstrable debt structuring and transaction experience.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills in Excel, with a good foundation of building and working with operational and/or finance models.
  • Understanding and ability to determine appropriate capital structures for a given scenario.
  • Strong analytical and credit analysis skills, with a sound understanding of key accounting statements.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent diverse communities.
