Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our mental health and psychosocial support program in Alberta Wildfires recovery operations. The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight, program management, and capacity-building initiatives to support the recovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the MHPSS strategy and partnerships within Alberta Wildfires recovery operations.
  • Interface with colleagues to integrate Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) into all recovery activities, including Indigenous Peoples.
  • Lead program management, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure alignment with standards and objectives.
  • Support collaborative partnerships with national MHPSS and Recovery Services to achieve strategic outcomes in MHPSS.
  • Ensure MHPSS projects and activities are culturally appropriate and inclusive.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Nursing, Education, or a related field, with a minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience.
  • Registered professional with a degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or a related field.
  • Certificate in project management is considered an asset.
  • Experience in Emergency/disaster management, program development, and implementation required.
  • Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), protection, and violence prevention, and psychosocial support in emergencies.
  • Strong leadership, managerial skills, and problem-solving skills in complex, high-pressure environments.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proven project management skills, including attention to detail and working with tight deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and respect of Indigenous culture and traditions, and cultural diversity.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will primarily require remote work or work from a home environment.
  • Periodic travel to partner meetings or field missions may be required, involving working in unstable and unpredictable environments.
  • May require on-call duties to respond to urgent and complex cases.
