Job Title: Mental Health Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Manager to join our team at the Canadian Red Cross. As a Mental Health Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of mental health and psychosocial support programs in Alberta Wildfires recovery operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight to the MHPSS strategy and partnerships within Alberta Wildfires recovery operations.
- Interface with colleagues on collaboration and integration of Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), including Indigenous Peoples, in all recovery activities.
- Lead program management, and monitoring/evaluation of program activities to ensure alignment with standards and objectives.
- With national MHPSS and Recovery Services, continue supporting collaborative partnerships as defined and aligned to strategic outcomes in MHPSS supporting continued community-based recovery.
- Ensure MHPSS projects supported and activities delivered, are culturally appropriate/culturally safe and inclusive.
Requirements:
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Nursing, Education or comparable related degree, with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience or combination of education and experience.
- Registered professional (in good standing) with a degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or other mental health related field; a combination of education and experience may be considered for Mental Health Professionals with significant relevant experience.
- Certificate in project management is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in Emergency/disaster management, program development and implementation required.
- Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), protection and violence prevention, and psychosocial support in emergencies.
- Strong leadership, managerial skills and problem-solving skills in a complex, high-pressure environments.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Proven project management skills including attention to detail and working with tight deadlines.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and respect of Indigenous culture and traditions, and cultural diversity.
- Experience with Indigenous populations is a strong asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English is essential.
- Fluency/working knowledge in an additional language is considered a strong asset.
Working Conditions:
- This position will primarily require remote work or work from a home environment.
- If driving for society business; a valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory drivers' abstract.
- Periodic travel to partner meetings or field missions may be required and this can involve working in environments that are unstable and unpredictable requiring very strict adherence to security regulations and with limited access to basic services and will require working non-traditional hours and therefore, a demonstrated ability to work in stressful and often ambiguous conditions is required.
- May require to be on-call on a rotation basis to respond to urgent and complex cases, including situations of safety, as well as adult and child protection.
