Position Overview:

The Department of Medicine is seeking a qualified Geriatrician or General Internist for a one-year locum position. This role is integral to the Division of Geriatric Medicine, which is recognized for its exceptional patient care and innovative programs.

About the Division:

The Division of Geriatric Medicine comprises a vibrant team of 10 full-time academic professionals dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of older adults. Our team is an essential component of the Regional Geriatric Program, which provides a comprehensive range of services tailored to the needs of the elderly population.

Clinical Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will engage in clinical services, including:

  • Management of an acute care inpatient Geriatric Medicine Unit
  • Participation in consultation teams across various campuses
Teaching and Supervision:

In addition to clinical duties, the role includes teaching and supervising medical students and residents, contributing to the educational mission of the Faculty of Medicine.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Specialization in Geriatric Medicine or General Internal Medicine
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Ontario
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Certification in General Internal Medicine or Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Academic Appointment:

The successful applicant will be eligible for an academic position at the University of Ottawa, with rank determined by qualifications and experience.
