Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Designer to enhance the AbeBooks platform, making it a premier destination for discovering used and collectible books.

Role Responsibilities
As the Product Design Lead, you will engage in all facets of product development, from ideation to research, collaborating closely with engineering and product management teams.

You will leverage a comprehensive skill set, including:
- Wireframing
- Interaction design
- Prototyping
- Visual design
to create compelling user experiences. To excel in this position, you must be an innovative self-starter with a strategic mindset. You will advocate for best practices and processes essential for delivering design-led, customer-focused solutions.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The perfect candidate will possess the ability to envision user experiences, articulate complex use cases, and translate the vision into actionable design deliverables.

Success in this role requires the capability to work autonomously and navigate a high degree of ambiguity.

Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the design for comprehensive product experiences and features.
- Lead design efforts throughout all stages of the product development lifecycle, from discovery to launch.
- Foster creative collaboration with cross-functional partners to generate innovative ideas and strategies.
- Identify opportunities through research and create solutions to address our most pressing customer challenges.
- Develop design frameworks, diagrams, user flows, wireframes, and detailed visual mockups to communicate design strategies, while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to realize your vision.
- Support your design decisions with quantitative data, site metrics, customer feedback, and usability insights.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship, focusing on the development of junior designers.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, processes, and tools.
- Present design concepts to design, technology, business, and leadership teams.

A Day in the Life
In your role as Product Design Lead, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team, innovating and refining end-to-end product experiences.

You will have a supportive leader and a team of peers to engage with for dialogue and assistance. The UX Design team is dedicated to their craft and passionately advocates for customers of all abilities.

Qualifications
- Proven experience applying scrum methodologies to visual or UX design processes.
- Expertise in UX design for complex workflows.
- A portfolio showcasing your work, demonstrating your ability to create exceptional end-to-end, user-centered design solutions across both desktop and mobile platforms.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Balsamiq, Omnigraffle, Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio, and Dreamweaver.

Compensation
The base salary for this position ranges from $90,500 to $151,100 per year, depending on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. AbeBooks offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
