Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to our medical staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic and providing excellent customer service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and orient patients to their appointments, and accompany them if needed.
  • Ensure the practical organization of the clinic, including appointments, convocations, and charts.
  • Receive, sort, and send mail and materials, and ensure their internal distribution.
  • Perform basic office work and clerical tasks, such as typing letters and documents, making photocopies, and sending faxes.
  • Collaborate with team leaders, front-line workers, and other staff to provide excellent service to our patients.
  • Respect the confidentiality of patient files and health information, and maintain the expected standards of conduct towards patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patients and staff, fostering a positive and respectful work environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • One year of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, the MSSS Network, and administrative regulations
  • Good knowledge of routine office work and Office Suite
  • Ability to work well under pressure and independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Practical, attentive to detail, and analytical
  • Sense of accountability, resourcefulness, and vigilance
  • Teamwork skills and a well-organized approach
Language

Fluency in Cree and English is required; fluency in French is an asset.
