Automation Engineering Lead

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the technical expert in facility automation engineering, overseeing automation systems throughout the entire site, including various facilities.
- Provide essential technical input for the design, fabrication, commissioning, and qualification of automation systems in both non-GMP and GMP settings.
- Ensure adherence to facility automation requirements established during the detailed design phase.
- Collaborate with various trades to execute installation and commissioning tasks for automation systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
- Lead mechanical completion and start-up processes for capital projects, representing automation during FAT, SAT, and Critical Test Plan execution.
- Review C&Q test plans related to automation and support commissioning and qualification activities.
- Manage configuration administration and maintenance tasks for the site's manufacturing computer and automation systems, including process control and building automation systems.
- Assist operations by troubleshooting and resolving issues related to computer and facility automation systems.
- Direct the development of automation design specifications, ensuring that engineering deliverables meet URS and compliance standards.
- Conduct thorough reviews, ensuring the technical quality of automation system designs and maintaining alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Oversee the execution of various automation projects from a technical perspective, ensuring alignment with automation philosophy and strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A minimum of five to seven years of direct experience in applied automation design engineering and project management, with additional experience in construction, installation, and equipment start-up.
- Proficient understanding of PLCs and automation within DCS platforms.
- Expertise in DeltaV systems, particularly in biotech projects.
- Familiarity with unit operations in biotech and vaccine manufacturing, including bulk manufacturing and downstream operations.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and their application in manufacturing processes.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Excellent analytical abilities for engineering analysis.
- Experience with platforms such as Allen Bradley PLC, BMS Systems, and OSISoft PI historian.
- Knowledge of computer systems validation practices.
- Experience in authoring and reviewing standard operating procedures and controlled documents.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative project environment requiring quick decision-making.
- Technical understanding across various subjects, including vaccine processes and HVAC systems.
- Proven leadership skills to engage with diverse roles within the organization.
