COST MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a dedicated Cost Management Coordinator to enhance our Supply Chain organization. This role is integral to the daily operations of the Cost Control function, aimed at achieving favorable business outcomes. The successful candidate will focus on refining and supporting business processes that enhance the reliability and precision of Supply Chain Material Estimates at Completion (EAC).

The Cost Management Coordinator will ensure that all incurred expenses are accurately recorded in the financial system in a timely manner. This position will also involve change management, project forecasting, and comprehensive reporting.

This is a permanent full-time position based in the Halifax Regional Municipality. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:
  1. Education: A Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, engineering, or project management is required.
  2. Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in cost analysis, cost management, budgeting, data analytics, or finance and accounting.
  3. Industry Knowledge: Experience in shipbuilding, construction, or manufacturing is considered an asset.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/MS Suite, MS Project, MS SQL Server, Tableau, Alteryx, or similar database systems.

All successful candidates must meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze project activities, assessing risks and performance to anticipate and improve forecasts. Conduct cost analysis aimed at enhancing production efficiency and minimizing risks, contributing to overall project success.
  2. Ensure that cost management systems are appropriately established and analyze budgets, commitments, and actual costs for accuracy.
  3. Support updates to the Project and Executive leadership teams as necessary on a regular basis.
  4. Compile and review cost reports, including verification of all cost calculations and journal entries to address variances.
  5. Oversee daily management tasks, including Purchase Order approvals, forecast reviews, and vendor historical analysis, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
  6. Document, communicate, and monitor established procedures.
