About the Role

We are in search of a Lead Bridge Engineering Specialist to enhance our expanding Canadian Operations within our Engineering Design Division, focusing on Transportation initiatives.

The Bridge and Transportation Group at GHD Canada collaborates with various governmental and municipal entities, as well as select contractors, on extensive projects that encompass the entire spectrum of transportation, including highways, roads, and bridges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive engineering services for bridge projects, including:
    • Project planning
    • Lifecycle cost evaluation
    • Asset management assistance
  • Lead and mentor intermediate and junior engineers, fostering professional growth.
  • Facilitate collaboration with other engineering disciplines to ensure the delivery of high-quality project outputs.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs, technical specifications, and cost and schedule estimates.
  • Engage in various procurement models and roles.
  • Prepare reports and contract documents for stakeholders, including review agencies and clients.
  • Maintain effective communication with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility providers, and clients.
  • Participate in project planning, development, and monitoring of schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

  • A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and engineering of bridge projects.
  • Experience with CN Rail, CP Rail, and MTO is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and Ontario design standards is preferred.
  • Experience in managing or mentoring teams is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
