Position Overview
This role is pivotal in ensuring that all departmental and store objectives, as outlined by the Store Manager, are achieved and/or surpassed. You will oversee the daily management of specific department aspects, including procurement, merchandising, workforce scheduling, and customer engagement. Your responsibilities must reflect a quality service approach towards all employees, customers, and suppliers, aligning with the Farm Boy Way.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of an unparalleled fresh shopping experience. Collaborate with the Store Manager and Retail Specialist to implement strategies aimed at achieving specified goals (financial outcomes). Foster team development through interviewing, training, performance reviews, coaching, motivation, and recognition, while upholding a high level of confidentiality and trust. Maintain consistent and effective communication to guide the team, including one-on-one coaching, team huddles, performance metrics, product knowledge, and adherence to corporate policies and procedures. Oversee retail operations and deliverables (inventory management, ordering, item maintenance, quality control, shrink management, merchandising, invoicing, scheduling, payroll). Participate in store coverage rotation as a Manager on Duty (e.g., opening/closing the store, serving as the alarm system emergency contact) as directed by the Store Manager. Ensure compliance with Safe Food Handling regulations and Health and Safety policies and procedures. May be assigned additional related duties on an occasional basis.Required Qualifications
Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with a focus on business, along with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve, and Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete these within 6 months. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Clear and effective communication abilities, both written and verbal. Sound judgment and decision-making skills when interacting with customers and Farm Boy team members. Ability to learn and utilize manual and automated systems/tools. Proficient in working in a fast-paced environment while managing priorities and maintaining a high level of performance. Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Fluency in English and French is considered an asset.Work Environment:
Providing service to multiple individuals or departments while working under various simultaneous deadlines. Required to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts. Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy items.Additional Information
