Job Summary

The Link is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Preservation and Reunification Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Mental Health Respite Home, you will play a vital role in facilitating supervised overnight family visits for children and families involved with Winnipeg, Rural and Northern Child and Family Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise youths and provide holistic support to families based on the teachings of the Medicine Wheel.
  • Establish trusting relationships with parents and their children, and support youths in developing positive relationships.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and teaching to support parents in meeting the needs of their children.
  • Work with children/youth to problem-solve, manage conflict, and maintain appropriate boundaries and expectations.
  • Support families in accessing cultural activities and ceremonies, and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Communicate concerns, needs, and observations to Team Lead and program supervisor.
  • Perform various administrative duties, including keeping accurate records and reports.
  • Contribute to a safe and supportive environment by performing general facility tasks, cleaning, and cooking chores.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required, and work collaboratively with other teams and external service providers.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education or a combination of education, work experience, and lived experience may be considered.
  • Experience working with families in a supportive manner, including experience working with youth with mental health diagnoses and substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of trauma and resilience-informed care, and strong counseling skills.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C certification, and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Preferred qualifications include ASIST Certificate, Mental Health First Aid, and The Link Commit 2 Kids Training.
