Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Co-op to join our team at FortisBC. As a Co-op student, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced engineers and gain valuable experience in the design and operation of our gas system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and update standard design practices for natural gas facilities and pipelines, including materials specifications, guidelines, and drawings.
- Perform site visits to understand the Transmission and Distribution gas system.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to review technical information on new utility products and practices.
- Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
- Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standards.
Requirements:
- Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year preferred.
- Enrolled in a Co-op Program.
- Experience or knowledge with CAD applications and competence in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
- Experience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
- Competent public speaker.
- Valid BC driver's license (or other provincial equivalent).
