Job Title: Engineering Co-op, Materials/Standards

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Co-op to join our team at FortisBC. As a Co-op student, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced engineers and gain valuable hands-on experience in the design and operation of our gas system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and update standard design practices for natural gas facilities and pipelines, including materials specifications, guidelines, and drawings.
  • Perform site visits to gain a deeper understanding of our Transmission and Distribution gas system.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to review technical information on new utility products and practices.
  • Conduct engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports and proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance with company and industry codes and standards.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering student in their third or fourth year.
  • Enrolled in a Co-op program.
  • Experience with CAD applications and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
  • Competent public speaker.
  • Valid BC driver's license (or equivalent).
