As a leading energy provider in British Columbia, we are seeking a talented Co-op student to join our team. With over 100 years of experience, we deliver renewable energy, natural gas, electricity, and propane to 1.2 million customers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with engineers, managers, and other stakeholders in different departments, gaining a deeper understanding of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and update standard design practices for natural gas facilities and pipelines, including materials specifications, guidelines, and drawings.
  • Perform site visits to better understand the Transmission and Distribution gas system.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to review technical information on new utility products and practices.
  • Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standards.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year preferred.
  • Enrolled in a Co-op Program.
  • Experience or knowledge with CAD applications and competence in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
  • Competent public speaker.
  • Valid BC driver's license (or other provincial equivalent).
