Position Overview

The City of Regina is seeking an Engineering Assistant II to join the Infrastructure Delivery branch. This role is essential in providing technical and operational support related to the management of sewer, water, and waste systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate databases pertinent to sewer, water, and waste infrastructure, including inspection and safety protocols.
  • Generate statistical data and reports by running standard and customized computer records as necessary.
  • Conduct locates for water and sewer infrastructure prior to construction activities.
  • Ensure quality control and perform thorough analysis of data and information.
  • Address public inquiries and concerns with professionalism and tact.
  • Adhere to all regulations outlined in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina's safety manual.
  • Undertake additional related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of water, sewer, and waste infrastructure management, including materials and operations.
  • Proficiency in collecting, organizing, and maintaining electronic data in accordance with City record retention policies.
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City’s safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles related to water and sewer systems.
  • Competence in interpreting engineering plans and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Capability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers in the development sector and within City services.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and GIS or similar software applications.
  • Understanding of surveying techniques and principles.

Educational Background & Experience

  • Completion of Grade Twelve (12) or equivalent General Education Development (GED).
  • Typically, two relevant post-secondary courses in engineering, mathematics, computer science, business, or administration.
  • A minimum of two years of operational, field, technical, or engineering experience in a related field.

Working Conditions

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to perform physical work in various environments and under inclement weather conditions.
  • Willingness to participate in training and complete recognized certification programs.
  • Flexibility to work from different operational bases.
  • Availability for overtime, shift work, and irregular hours as needed.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Proof of educational qualifications will be required.
  • Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies and skills.
